Keiko, who is 14 at the start of the manga, has been the childhood friend of Yusuke Urameshi since elementary school. By the time they are students at Sarayashiki Junior High School, Yusuke is a juvenile delinquent and the toughest pupil at school, while Keiko is a straight-A student and her personality is the opposite of that of Yusuke's. This doesn't stop their friendship; Yusuke and Keiko are closer to each other than they would like to admit. Keiko's parents run a ramen restaurant.

After Yusuke is hit and killed by a car, he is allowed to come back to life on the condition that someone kisses him. Keiko is the one who kisses him and revives him.

Yusuke tries to not get her involved with his spirit detective escapades. But first Hiei of the Evil Eye kidnaps Keiko and slashes her with a sword that slowly causes a third eye to open and turn her into a mindless demon slave. He then lures Yusuke into his lair. Yusuke defeats Hiei with Kurama's help while Botan keeps Keiko's third eye from opening. Keiko is given an antidote and is unaware of what happened.

Keiko finally partly learns what her friend is doing during the Four Beasts story arc. After the other three are killed, the last beast, Suzaku, plays a whistle that sends humans hypnotized with roundworm monsters (a.k.a. makai insects) after Keiko to kill her. Botan protects her and buys Yusuke enough time to destroy the whistle and to kill Suzaku and his bird friend, Murg (Murugu).

Keiko asks Botan to explain Yusuke's scenario to her after the ordeal is over; Botan does not explain it all to her mainly for safety reasons, Keiko finds out the rest during the Dark Tournament (the Ankoto Bujutsukai or Black Martial Arts Tournament in the original Japanese) when she goes there with Botan and Kazuma Kuwabara's older sister, Shizuru. Since then, Keiko supports her friend in the adventures he goes on, staying by their sides during the Sensui arc for moral support along with Shizuru.

Towards the end of the anime, Yusuke stops by her parents ramen restaurant and proposes to Keiko. It's a really tender moment until her father interrupts, saying how Yusuke always used to do that whenever Keiko got upset with him. She doesn't really say anything, but Yusuke doesn't need it to know she has accepted, and Keiko spends the next three years studying hard in a famous all-girls school.

At the end of the anime, after a meeting with the major part of her friends, Keiko finds herself looking at the beach. She then screams at the sea, "I'm tired of waiting for you, Yusuke!" He then shows up next to her unexpectedly saying "I don't want you to wait either," She is in shock, yet jumps onto him and hugs him, bringing him to the ground. As she stares into his eyes, she kisses him, showing that even after Yusuke made her wait for so long, she is still loyal to him.

'Yukimura' literally means snowy village and Keiko means firefly girl, or respectful child. Keiko's birthday is January 31. Her blood type is A, her hobbies include cooking and cleaning, and is currently pursuing her career on modeling.

Trivia

Keiko's name in the Philippines dub of the series was changed to "Jenny".

For reasons unknown to the public, Keiko's name was changed to 'Kayko' in the FUNimation dub.

Keiko's image song on the Yu Yu Hakusho soundtrack is "YELL". She also has a duet with Yusuke in "Omoide o Tsubasa ni ****e" and sings along with Botan and Yukina in "HOLD OUT!!".

Keiko Yukimura is Yusuke's childhood friend. In some ways, she is his girlfriend, but unofficially. Even though they don't quite admit it, they do have some feelings for each other. Yusuke has a habit of doing things to her such as touching her behind which gets him one or two mean slaps from Keiko. In fact, she slaps so hard, that for her, it's a punch. When Yusuke "died," she was one of the three people who got a dream to kiss Yusuke to bring him back. Her mother became ill; however, so Yusuke had to possess Kuwabara's body to remind her of her dream. During the beginning episodes, she pretty much lugged around Yusuke's body because of her dream, therefore showing how she cares for him. She is the class president/leader of her and Yusuke's class and always scolds Yusuke about this and that. Her parents work at a restaurant and Yusuke's a good friend of her family. In age, she is the same age as Yusuke. At the beginning of the series, they are both 14. Also in the beginning, she seems to get picked on a lot too. For example, Hiei kidnaps her and tries to make her one of his first "slaves," and when Yusuke goes on his first mission after returning from his first training session with Genkai, Suzaku sends a bunch of zombie-like, possessed humans after her and MAKES Yusuke watch.

*SPOILER*At the end of the series, it's pretty touching. Before Yusuke goes to Makai, he goes to Keiko's family's restaurant and tells her that he'll be back in three years to marry her. Keiko is, well, pretty happy I guess, but kind of sad that Yusuke'll be away for so long. Her parents, on the other hand, are ecstatic! They're celebrating and practically throwing a party in the back (maybe I'm exaggerating...). After the Makai Bujutsukai and everyone else is back from Makai, they all go to the beach and Keiko stands alone facing the sunset when suddenly, she yells out "Baka Yusuke!!!!" After that, she goes on complaining about how he said he'd be back in three years, get married, and then calls him "baka" once again. Then, she hears a familiar voice calling from several feet to her left. She turns around and sees that it's Yusuke. She's VERY happy. Keiko walks to him at first, and then begins a running jump and falls on Yusuke, knocking him to the ground. Next, she kisses him to the "excitement" of some of the onlookers (ie. Botan, Kuwabara, etc), but their view is cut short as a tidal wave splashes over the two, blocking the view of the romantic scene. When the tide leaves, you see Keiko and Yusuke just staring at each other and then Yusuke smiles. The theme song plays and Yusuke chases Keiko into the tides and they begin a water fight. The onlookers begin laughing at the cutle little scene until Yusuke kicks some water in Kuwabara's face. Kuwabara goes over to give Yusuke a noogie and the water battle continues. Keiko shows Yukina how to splash water on Yusuke and Kuwabara. Isn't that a nice ending? *shniffle* Age: 14 (18 by the end) Birthday: January 31
